The Balance Clinic & Laboratory

Acute vertigo is a disabling and treatable symptom arising from disorders affecting the inner ear balance organs and their connections with the central nervous system. Our objective is to offer a rapid assessment service for patients with acute vertigo and chronic imbalance.

Our research focuses on building diagnostic profiles of common balance disorders and developing new techniques of assessing the dizzy patient. The balance clinic promotes extending vestibular diagnostic testing to rural clinics, emergency departments and general practice settings and collaborates with a network of frontline practitioners in order to improve the diagnosis and management of vertigo.
